Johannesburg
A truly fabulous suburb. These are some of my recommendations for places to explore in this suburb but the list is by no means extensive.
January 2024A family-friendly food and craft market. Held on the second Saturday of every month. Stroll underneath the trees through stalls that lure and inspire with locally-handcrafted goods. Then stay a whole to enjoy a variety of food & beverages, live music, and the relaxed atmosphere.
Join for a cooking class at the beautiful Healthy Food Studio.
Did you know the highest urban bar in Africa is located right in the heart of Sandton? Alto234 is a brilliant spot for sundowners.
This gorgeous spot is the perfect venue for a slow Saturday. Enjoy a staycation, spa day, or just pop in for a brekkie.
An iconic shopping destination in itself. Head to these spots for some retail therapy: Sandton City Mall, Nelson Mandela Square, and The Marc Sandton.
Have a little walk around Mushroom Park before popping into Truffle Bistro for a coffee and cake.
Everyone knows what a long-standing love I have for Jamie and the team at Banchan. Jamie was still young when her parents instilled within her the responsibility of being ambassadors to Korea and Korean culture in SA. The aim was similar with the restaurant - creating something that would e an honourable representation of their family, Korean culture, and Korea as a whole.
Pop into the flamingo room by Tasha's Cafe at Nelson Mandela Square for a pretty brunch spot. If you're looking for a meal that showcases opulent Sandton flair, look no further than Olives and Plates in the Embassy Towers. Also, Brilliant brunch and pizzas served by the legendary team at Pablo.
My favourite evening spots, offering that ultra-lux ambience that Sandton specialises in: Saint (the OG. The perfect overall venue for food, drinks, and a dance. Especially on Saintly Sundays), Tang (Lovely spot on the square. Order the wagyu & tuna tataki, sea bass ceviche and black cod), Zioux (A beautiful luxury cocktail and champagne bar with one of the best culinary teams in the city, specialising in small bites).
