Stellski Cafe, Bree Street

Bree Street

Description

This list is built around vibrant local design and coffee culture. Stop in to visit the friendly staff at Stellski Cafe on Bree street to fuel up with breakfast and coffee. The cafe's draw card is the beautiful outdoor courtyard, an oasis set back from the busy street. It shares its space with Neighbourgoods, a coworking space with a flare for good design, making this the perfect spot to start our day at.

Always Welcome

Shortmarket Street

Description

As we leave Stellski, we turn right on Bree and take a short walk to the newly opened Always Welcome Heritage House. An innovative design collective (read: homeware store) that offers a refreshing take on showcasing local design through a more interactive approach, crossing borders between retail shop and gallery space. It houses local talent and tasteful intention which makes this a must-see space to feel inspired and connect to the local context.

Buiten Street

Buiten Street

Description

We continue our stroll to Buiten Street, just off Bree Street, to explore a few more gems. View the incredibly well-curated WHATIFTHEWORLD Art Gallery. Be sure to pop in to see the lovely ladies at Skinny LaMInx and browse their colourful hand-printed fabrics (locally made of course). We love this spot to source gifts. Finally pop in at Pezula Interiors for the best selection of coffee table books and interesting homeware pieces from around the world.

Honest Chocolate Bar

Wale Street

Description

It's time for a treat before we switch up neighbourhoods. A short stroll from our last stop, you'll find Honest - chocolate bar by day, secret gin bar by night. Refuel with a coffee and their dangerously delicious brownie before buying a slab of their artisanal chocolate to go. Their Artist Range is a beautiful collaboration with local artists who feature their work on the wrappers. From here catch an Uber to The Palms, Woodstock and let's continue our journey!

The Palms, Woodstock

Woodstock

Description

It's time to switch up the scenery and head into the hustle and bustle of Woodstock. A vibrant art district known for its street art and industrious energy. The Palms Lifestyle and Decor Centre is an architectural delight with it's high-volume ceilings. You'll find a selection of shops, our recommendations being local mom and daughter design label, Me&B for fun, colourful fashion and female-founded fashion label Mareth Colleen where each garment is hand-made by South African artisans.

Additional Safety Information
Woodstock can be considered somewhat unsafe by some, so just be vigilant when walking the streets. The Palms centre is completely safe and there is a community feel to Woodstock in general, so don't be afraid to ask for directions or help from one of the shop owners if you feel unsettled. You are always less at risk during the day.

Stellski Cafe, Woodstock

Salisbury Street

Description

Catch an Uber from the Palms and hop on over to enjoy lunch at Stellski's on Salisbury Street. By now you sure have walked up an appetite so we recommend the Nature's Delight toasted sandwich! This area of Woodstock is a must-see, we like to think of it as the mini Bo-Kaap of Cape Town. A colourful little neighbourhood with cute corner cafe's and a neighbourly atmosphere. Visit our favs - The Paper Moon Bookstore, Salisbury Corner Cafe and don't miss out on booking for dinner at Scarpetta!
